Continuing Education

Are you looking for a job, hoping to advance in your career, or interested in learning new skills?

Whether you're an employee, a job seeker, a tradesperson, or a self-employed professional, you can do so by returning to school through continuing education.

What kind of training?

All courses offered by the University of Montpellier are available as continuing education programs.
Just as with undergraduate programs, to enroll in continuing education, you must:

  • Meet the prerequisites for admission to the program or obtain recognition of prior learning to be exempt from the degree normally required;
  • Have been authorized to enroll, if applicable, in programs with a selection process.

We recommend that youcontactthe relevant departmentas early as Marchto find out about the application process.

"Interns" may be grouped with students in initial training programs, but they may also participate in training programs specifically tailored to their needs: programs that are adapted in terms of content or organization.

Recognition of Prior Learning:

Education, professional experience, and personal achievements—as applicable—may be recognized:

  • The VAP (Validation of Prior Learning) allows applicants to be exempted from the prerequisite qualification for admission to the program.
  • VAE (Validation of Prior Learning) allows for the awarding of all or part of a degree.

Are you an employee?Your training may be covered:

  • As part of your company’s training plan:The Training Plan (training initiatives selected by the company for its employees, whether or not initiated by the company) is funded either by the company using its own funds or by the collecting agency to which it contributes.
  • As part of Individual Training Leave:Individual Training Leave may be fully or partially funded (training costs and/or compensation) by FONGECIF or an approved funding agency.
    – It may be requested by the employee under a permanent contract (must have been employed for 2 years, including one year with the company)
    – At the end of a fixed-term contract (must provide proof of 24 months of professional activity over the past 5 years, including 4 months under a fixed-term contract—whether consecutive or not—within the last 12 months).
  • As part of the training time credit program:Training time credits are a mechanism for organizing and funding initiatives that are part of the company’s training plan.
  • Under the Individual Right to Training (DIF)(introduced in early May 2004, with credits available starting in early May 2005):The purpose of the DIF is to enable every employee to receive 20 hours of training per year, which can be accumulated over a 6-year period, for a total of 120 hours.
